Both options are good; it depends on where you live and what matters most to you. Here it is in six points.
| Aluminium | PVC | |
|---|---|---|
| Thermal insulation | Very good with a thermal break. | Excellent: PVC is a natural insulator, with multi-chamber profiles. |
| Acoustic insulation | Good; improves with acoustic glass and good sealing. | Very good, especially with acoustic glass. |
| Near the sea | Holds up well with quality lacquer or anodised finishes. | Does not rust or corrode in salty air. |
| Light and design | Slimmer profiles and more glass; RAL colours and anodised finishes. | Slightly wider profiles; white, colours and wood-effect finishes. |
| Large windows | The best option for large openings and sliding doors. | Works very well at the usual sizes for homes. |
| Price | Depends on the range and the size; we work it out in your quote. | Usually the most balanced option between price and performance. |

How much do aluminium windows cost?
It’s the usual question, and the answer is the usual one too: it depends. To give you an accurate figure we need to know these four things.
The final price also depends on the finishes, the thermal break, the type of aluminium suited to the climate, the opening and closing systems and the thickness of the glass. Rather than looking only at the price per square metre, rely on installers who advise you and on a lasting installation that suits your taste.

Frequently asked questions about aluminium windows
Why should I choose aluminium over other materials?
Aluminium is unbeatable for strength and durability. Its robustness makes it possible to produce much slimmer, more elegant profiles, which means more glass area and therefore more natural light in your home. It is the preferred option for modern, minimalist designs.
Are aluminium windows cold? What is a thermal break?
In the past they were, but today we use the thermal break. At Proftex, we place an insulating material between the inner and outer faces of the profile. This stops the conduction of cold or heat, guaranteeing a comfortable environment and removing the risk of condensation on the frames.
Can I install large sliding windows in aluminium?
It’s the ideal material for it. Thanks to its lightness and strength, aluminium makes it possible to create very large sashes that slide smoothly. It’s the perfect solution for connecting your living room with the terrace or garden, maximising panoramic views.
Is aluminium suitable for homes on the Alicante coast?
Yes, as long as it is high quality. At Proftex we use advanced surface treatments and certified lacquers that protect the metal against salt corrosion and sea air. Our aluminium windows keep their look and structural integrity even in the harsh marine climate.
What customisation options do you offer in aluminium?
The possibilities are endless. You can choose any colour from the RAL chart, anodised finishes with metallic textures or even very convincing wood effects. Because it is such a versatile material, we can create windows in special shapes or extra-large sizes that other materials could not support.
Are aluminium windows secure?
Extremely secure. The natural rigidity of aluminium, combined with our Roto perimeter hardware and laminated safety glass, makes a barrier that is very hard to force. It is a material that does not deform easily, adding an extra layer of protection against intruders.
What maintenance do these windows need?
Maintenance is minimal. As a metal that neither rusts nor rots, it only needs occasional cleaning with water and neutral soap to remove dust or salt. We recommend checking the lubrication points once a year so that opening stays as smooth as on the first day.
Is aluminium an eco-friendly material?
Absolutely. Aluminium is 100% recyclable endlessly, without losing its properties. In addition, by improving your home’s insulation with our thermal-break systems, you use less air conditioning and reduce your carbon footprint.
How long does it take to change aluminium windows?
The installation takes one working day, once the windows have been made. Manufacturing time depends on the model, the size and the colour, and we confirm it in writing in your quote.
How can I get an offer for my project?
The first step is a real assessment at your home. A Proftex technician will visit to advise you on the best profiles and glass for your sun exposure and needs. You can request this free visit by writing to us at:
